The third edition of the Women’s Premier League WPL 2025 is set to begin on Friday, February 14 with the previous year’s winner Royal Challengers Bangalore locking horns with Gujarat Giants. Notably, this will be the first time in WPL history, that the competition will be played across four venues.
The WPL officially debuted in March 2023, aiming to provide a structured and competitive environment for Indian women cricketers. Like IPL, WPL is also set to bring the top cricket coached, players and management in one place to take Indian women’s cricket a notch higher.
The Smriti Mandhana-led RCB will enter the tournament to defend their title as the WPL 2024 winner, while Harmanpreet Kaur’s Mumbai Indians would like to clinch their trophy back as the WPL 2023 champions. Moreover, Meg Lanning would be confident to put her team Delhi Capitals in the winning seat after reaching the final on both previous occasions.

What is the WPL 2025 Format ?
WPL 2025 will retain its traditional round-robin format, followed by the knockout stage. Each of the five participating teams will face the other teams twice during the round-robin phase, earning two points for a win. If a match is abandoned, both teams will receive one point each.
After the round-robin stage, the team topping the points table will secure a direct spot in the final, while the second- and third-placed teams will compete in an eliminator to determine the second finalist. The winner of the final will be crowned the WPL 2025 champion.
