The February 19 to March 9 tournament marks the first time Pakistan hosts an ICC event in three decades. However, some matches will be played in the United Arab Emirates after India refused to play in the neighboring country, citing security reasons. The refusal of the Indian cricket team to play in Pakistan agreed PCB and BCCI that the commonplace for Indian team matches would be in Dubai.
India sealed the first game against Bangladesh riding Mohammad Shami’s 5/43 and Shubhman Gill’s excellent knock of unbeaten 101 of 129 balls. Team India secure their first win over Bangladesh in their opening match of the Champions Trophy on Thursday.
The top two teams from each group advance to the semi-finals, which determine which two will compete in the big tournament’s finals. The semi-finals will be played on March 4 in Dubai and March 5 in Lahore.
